The Bureau of Tourism is proud to officially announce the launch of the Palau Sustainable Tourism Strategy (STS) 2025–2028. This milestone marks the start of implementation, as we work hand in hand with our partners to build a tourism sector that is sustainable, resilient, and proudly Palauan.
The Strategy sets out a clear vision: to protect our natural and cultural heritage, to strengthen community benefits, and to ensure that visitors enjoy high-quality, low-impact experiences. With guiding principles rooted in stewardship, data-driven decision-making, and long-term resilience, the STS provides us with a practical roadmap for action.
We express our sincere gratitude to the Asian Development Bank’s Pacific Private Sector Development Initiative (ADB-PSDI) for their invaluable technical assistance in making this Strategy a reality. Their support helped us transform our vision into an actionable plan with timelines, goals, and measurable outcomes.
We are also proud to present two complementary initiatives—expansion to the Eco-Friendly Public Bus Transport and the introduction of Electric Vehicles (EVs) in Palau. We extend our thanks to the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Embassy of Japan in Palau for their partnership in supporting these efforts, which directly contribute to our mobility, climate, and sustainability goals.
This launch marks the beginning of a new chapter for Palau’s tourism. The work is underway, and together, we are committed to ensuring that our visitor economy grows responsibly, benefits our communities, and safeguards the treasures of Palau for generations to come.
Once again, the Bureau of Tourism thanks and acknowledges our partners who contributed. We are excited to get things going!
